On behalf of the MAC Education Committee we invite you to attend the following webinar:

“Threats to Payments, Threats to Well Being: Addictive Merchants Online” (Part 1 of 2)

PART 1: GAMBLING

The Internet has been dubbed the land of the free, but that freedom has created new forms of addiction. Today’s online commerce facilitates
harmful habits faster than previous media and marketplaces. These are more than “bad choices,” as they can grow into societal problems.
In these sessions, you’ll learn how some online merchants cultivate fixations and then exploit them, with opioids and gambling
as two prime examples. Special interests—activist groups, news media, and politicians—can place great pressure on payments companies
that enable these activities. Interweaving headline events like the Supreme Court ruling on sports betting and the federal opioid crackdown, this presentation will define
the problems, update you on recent cases, and help you understand the threat categories. Ultimately, you’ll learn how to protect your portfolio in a time when
traditional rules—written and unwritten—that protected payments companies are retreating.
